President - Elaine Sinha

As a Union activist Elaine began her training as the Vice-President of COPE. While holding office as Vice-President and President she has taken Stewards, WSIB, Pay Equity, Asbestos Training, Violence in the Workplace and has become a Health and Safety Instructor. Elaine is serving a second term as President of COPE Local 527. As President, Elaine represents Local 527 as a Vice-President on the Executive of COPE Ontario and is also a Trustee, a delegate at Hamilton and District Labour Council and represents the local on the Workplace Wellness Committee at the HWDSB, as well as attending Board meetings at the HWDSB, Special Education Advisory Council Meetings, (SEAC), filing and presenting grievances and representing members who return to work and may require accommodations. 

 

Vice-President Jacqueline Hobbins

Jackie joined the Executive in June, 2008 as the VP. She is currently serving a second term in that position. Prior to becoming VP, Jackie was very familiar with unions as she joined her husband in various union activist events. She became a union steward and started taking courses to assist her union education. She has been an educational assistant since November, 2000 and has continued to work for Lynwood Hall Child and Family Services on a part time relief  basis since, 2001. During her employment with the board she has kept up her NVCI, BMST, PMAB and First Aid. She continues to take further courses and has completed Stewards Level I and II, Health and Safety Level I and WSIB Level I. As VP, Jackie heads up the Union Stewards and the Trustees. She belongs to the PD Committee, Safe Schools, School Effectiveness Framework and attends various Board meetings, Staff Relations meetings and CASE meetings.

  

Treasurer - Kathy Todd

 

Secretary - Dianne Poel

Dianne was elected to the Executive Committee in April 2006 as the Recording Secretary. She has been an Educational Assistant for 25 years. Her years of knowledge and experience bring a fresh approach, outlook and energy to the position.

  

Trustee-- Susan Lucek

In April 2006 Susan was elected as a Trustee to the Executive of COPE Local 527. She has been working as an Educational Assistant since November 2000. Susan opinions and energy is a welcomed addition to the executive. She also sits on the School Year Calendar Committee which assists in establishing the calendar for the following school year.She also sits on the P.D. Committee. She attends the SEAC meetings and is a Union Steward.
